Transfer students can register for courses��along with returning �¼��ϲʿ��ֱ�� students starting in March. Visit the Register on Track��page for course planning resources to get you started!

If you’ve previously studied at a university or college recognized by �¼��ϲʿ��ֱ��, you may be able to receive credit for course work already completed.��

Learn about financing your education

Entrance awards��– �¼��ϲʿ��ֱ�� offers entrance awards ranging from $500 to $41,900. Apply by February 15 by completing the general awards application.

Bursaries��– �¼��ϲʿ��ֱ�� offers a variety of bursaries that you can apply for in your first year.��

Canadian student loans��– Loans come from federal, provincial or territorial governments. Fill out an application for your home province/territory for each year that you’re studying.

U.S. student loans��– Financial assistance is available for citizens and permanent residents of the United States. �¼��ϲʿ��ֱ�� is a participant in the Direct Loan program by the US Department of Education.

Immigration requirements for international students

Most international students require a study permit to enter Canada as a student.�� Depending on your citizenship, you may also require a separate visa or travel authorization to enter Canada. For more information on permit and visa types, and how to apply, visit the New Student Immigration Information page��on the International Centre website.

If your program includes a mandatory or optional work term, internship, practicum, or placement, you will also need a co-op work permit (which can be requested as part of your original study permit application).�� For more details on how to apply for a co-op work permit, please visit the New Student Immigration Information page.

Decide where to live

Residence

To qualify for residence, you must have been accepted to Dal, paid your $200 admission deposit, and submitted your residence application by May 1. Room assignments will be emailed to your �¼��ϲʿ��ֱ�� email beginning in late spring.

Off-campus housing

There are many off-campus housing��options within walking distance of campus or along popular bus routes. Meal plans are also available to students that choose to live off-campus.

Students with families

Students with families may wish to live in , a family housing cooperative in Halifax.

Consider your Health Plan

Students who are enrolled full-time at �¼��ϲʿ��ֱ�� are automatically enrolled in the Health and Dental Plan at �¼��ϲʿ��ֱ�� during the Fall term.

�¼��ϲʿ��ֱ�� offers Health Plans to students from the September 1 to August 31. This timeframe is refered to as the policy year.

If you are paying International Student Fees, you will be enrolled in an additional international Health Plan during the term in which your studies begin.

Students are able to opt out of these plans if they have alternate, comparable, coverage. Opt-outs can only be submitted during the term in which you are enrolled in the Health Plan. Family members can be added to your Student Health Plans during the term in which you begin your studies.
