Maintenance and repairs

We take maintenance issues in our residences seriously. If you see something in your room or a common area that needs our attention, please complete a聽Maintenance Request Form (MRF).

Step-by-step instructions here.

Please provide as much detail as possible about the problem. Submitting this form also gives us permission to enter your room to do the repair, if required.

The Maintenance Request Form is available through your聽Residence Hub Page聽within your Residence Application in聽. Once you have checked into your room, you will see a Maintenance Request option under your Requests section.

In the event of an emergency, please make sure you聽also report the problem directly to residence staff. Our maintenance request system is not monitored overnight or on weekends. Residence staff will be able to determine if a problem should be handled immediately or if it can wait until the next work day. Front desk staff, residence life managers, residence assistants, commissionaires and/or campus security are available 24/7.

Right of entry
For all maintenance, custodial and residence staff, the聽protocol聽for entering apartments is as follows:

  1. knock聽on the door, wait
  2. knock on the door,听announce聽who they are and that they have a key
  3. knock on the door while聽entering聽the unit

Pest control
You need to report any sighting of insects or rodents to your Front Desk immediately.聽 If the issue is not reported, you can be held financially responsible for fumigation. You must comply with the recommendations of the pest control professionals on any necessary measures you need to take to fix the situation.

You are responsible for cleaning your own room and providing your own cleaning supplies. Additionally, students are responsible for cleaning the messes they've created in public areas such as floor kitchens and lounges.聽Neatness and cleanliness of the residence is a responsibility shared by all residents.

Custodial Services is only responsible for聽general cleaning of public areas, such as lounges, bathrooms, and garbage rooms. They are not responsible for cleaning excessive messes left by residents in common areas. Custodial services is not responsbile for cleaning personal rooms, as well as apartment kitchens, bathrooms, or living areas. Full custodial services are provided throughout the week, with minimal cleaning occurring on the weekend.

Important

  • If there is an incident that requires assistance, please report it to your RA immediately to reduce the risk of contamination.
  • If you don't follow the rules on cleanliness, you could be subject to fines. You can also be billed for the clean-up of excessive waste or mess.
  • As members of our residence community, custodial, maintenance and dining hall staff should be treated with courtesy and respect at all times.

Garbage & recycling

It is your responsibility to ensure that all personal garbage, recycling, and organics is brought to the designated area in your residence and sorted appropriately.

Organics should not remain in the dorm room for more than a day. Recycling rooms have bins for Paper, Recycling, Refundable Containers, Organics, and Garbage with signage to instruct you on what goes where.

Never put聽sharp objects聽or broken glass in garbage cans or bags as this puts other residents and custodial/maintenance staff at risk. If required, appropriate needle disposal containers are available at Health Services.

Garbage etiquette
驰辞耻听share the responsibility聽with other residents for keeping the public areas clean and sanitary. Proper disposal of your trash and participating in the recycling/composting program helps to maintain a聽healthy living environment. Failure to keep apartments and public areas clean can result in disciplinary action.

Recycling
贵颈苍别听paper,听newsprint, corrugated聽cardboard,听beverage containers听补苍诲听产补迟迟别谤颈别蝉听are recycled on campus. Please place these items in the appropriately labelled receptacle nearest you. We request that you聽flatten cardboard boxes聽prior to placing them out for collection. 聽
