Treaty Day & Mi'kmaq History month in Nova Scotia

October 1Ìýwas proclaimed by Grand Chief Donald Marshall Sr. in 1986, to commemorate the Treaty of Friendship and Peace between the Mi'kmaq Nation and the British Crown, signed in 1752, and reaffirmed by the Supreme Court of Canada in 1985. Ìý
