Final reminder ‑ Call for expressions of interest: мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ COP29 delegation

Posted by Government and Global Relations on July 31, 2024 in General Announcements

мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥, through the Marine and Environmental Law Institute (MELAW), has observer status at the annual UNFCCC-hosted Council of Parties (COP) climate meetings. This status allows мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ to apply to send a small number of in-person delegates (1-4) to participate in COP events.

COP29 will be held in Azerbaijan from November 11-22, 2024. Faculty, staff, and students interested in attending COP in-person as a мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ delegate are invited to respond by completing and submitting the form linked below by noon on August 1, 2024.

In response to increasing interest in attending, мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ is piloting a new application process. Through this, 50% of delegate spots will be allotted to MELAW members and 50% to other мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ participants. MELAW has established its own process to fill their allotment. This EOI seeks to fill мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥â€™s allotment. EOIs will be prioritized based on the following criteria:

  1. Invited participation in a panel/event (with blue zone activities taking priority over green zone),
  2. Active research in the climate space,
  3. Evidence of funding to attend,
  4. Applicant is unable to obtain a delegate pass through an affiliation with another organization.
