A message to our Printing Services customers:
The bulk paper industry is currently facing unprecedented cost pressures due to raw material shortages, mill closures and increased processing and diesel fuel costs. Â This has resulted in cost increases over time to the University for materials, consumables and supplies needed to support our daily print operations.
To date, мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ has been able to absorb cost increases through efficient production processes and strategic national supply agreements, however, even with savings achieved through economies of scale, we recently received a notice of a cost increase of 26% for our bulk paper.
While we remain committed to continuing to look for efficiencies to keep our costs down, this significant increase will result in cost increases for paper and services.
The rate of increase depends on the scope and material of the order with paper-based products being most affected.
We are hopeful the marketplace will become stable and, ultimately, prices will fall. At that time, we will reduce pricing.
The Printing Services team will continue to work with suppliers to source options that keep sustainability and cost at the forefront without sacrificing the quality you’ve come to expect from us. Â
As always, we’re here to help and we can be reached by emailing printing.services@dal.ca or by calling (902)494-6428.
We appreciate your business and your support and look forward to continuing to be your on-campus source for paper and printing.
