POSITION: Teaching Assistant (TA 90) for INDG 2052/CANA 2052/SOSA 2052 (Winter 2023).

PAY RATE:Ìý As per CUPE 3912 Collective Agreement (90 hours)

WORK ASSIGNMENT:
The Teaching Assistant will assist with CANA 2052/INDG 2052/SOSA 2052, Contemporary Issues in Indigenous Studies; a course with approx. 70 students. It is currently scheduled for In-Person delivery, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1005-1125. Duties include, but are not limited to: marking student assignments, essays, and tests, following class lectures (online), and delivering guest lecture, if desired. 90 hours of work during the 2023 winter term are expected. The Teaching Assistant reports to the course instructor.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:

An undergraduate degree in Indigenous Studies, Sociology, or in a related field, or graduate work in Indigenous Studies, Sociology, or in a related field. Strong writing skills and the ability to give reliable grammar and composition advice are required, as are strong interpersonal skills. Familiarity with Brightspace is required for content and grade submission. Preference will be given to students with a background in Indigenous Studies. Lived experience as an Indigenous person is an asset.
