Tackling Unconscious Bias in Decision‑Making

Everyone has unconscious biases that can unintentionally affect decision-making and impede strategic priorities to advance equity, diversity and inclusion.Ìý This interactive workshop will introduce the concept of unconscious bias and explore how it shows up in choices that are made on a day-to-day basis in organizations. Through a variety of activities and discussions, this workshop will explore how unconscious biases are formed in our brains, their impact and introduce strategies that can be employed to mitigate unconscious bias.

By the end of this 4-hour workshop, participants will be able to:
- Recognize what unconscious bias is;
- Explore how personal and social identities influences our way of "knowing;"Ìý Ìý
- List different types of unconscious biases;
- Examine the impact of unconscious bias on individuals and organizations; and
- Identify strategies that can be used to minimize unconscious bias.​
