Employment Opportunity (Full Time - contract): Facilities Department – General Labourer

*Contract is for approximately 6 months with the possibility to extend*

The Facilities Department of the University of King’s College is looking for a general labourer who is responsible for maintenance and repair (preventative, coorective and immediate) of all campus grounds and buildings.

SPECIFIC DUTIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Under the Supervision and guidance of the Facilities Supervisors, the general labourer is responsible for the following:

• Maintain a clean and safe environment for the campus community

• Campus upkeep, including but not limited to daily litter collection, garbage removal, and clearing of exterior drains

• Maintain campus green spaces, including but not limited to mowing grass, pruning trees and shrubs, weeding, mulching and edging flower beds, leave raking and removal (campus landscaping)

• Maintain all lawn care equipment

• Light plumbing repairs

• Painting and snow removal

• Provide assistance to tradesmen and contractors as needed

• Operate all equipment safely and efficiently, as well as ensuring that all tools and equipment are stored in a safe and secure manner

• Operation of power and motorized equipment as per training

• Move folding tables for events and on-campus activities

• Move, load, unload and arrange furniture, construction material, equipment and supplies

• Demolition and removal of construction debris from work areas

• Responsible for managing pest control, including laying rodent and insect traps, monitoring traps to collect after use and making a comfortable environment for the students

• Other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

The successful candidate must/will have:

• Valid driver’s license

• Completion WHMIS Certification

• Able to lift 50lbs repeatedly

Overtime and On-call will be required on occasion

It will be considered an asset if the Candidate possess:

• Fall Arrest

• CPR/First Aid

Applicants with computer experience and trade related work experience and knowledge will be given preference.

Compensation: $13.00 per hour plus vacation pay (35 hours per week)
