POSITION: Part-Time Academic
DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: German Department
PAY RATE: As per CUPE Collective agreement
COURSE INFORMATION: German 1010X: German for Beginners
Fall Term 2018-2019 (September 1, 2018 – December 31, 2018)
Currently Scheduled: MWF 9:35-10:25
WORK ASSIGNMENT: Co-teaching with the German 1010 Coordinator, and following a set plan, the Part-Time Academic is responsible for planning and leading individual classes, administering tests, grading assignments, keeping records and the calculation of final grades. The Part-Time Academic is required to be available to students outside of class time. The Part-Time Academic reports to the German 1010 Coordinator.
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Applicants should have native or near-native fluency in English and German and completed an undergraduate degree. Good teaching skills, including grammar training, commitment to student learning, and strong sense of personal responsibility.

COURSE INFORMATION: German 3153: Goethe & the Enlightenment I
Fall Term 2018-2019 (September 1, 2018 – December 31, 2018)
Currently Scheduled: TR 16:05 – 17:25
WORK ASSIGNMENT: The Part-Time Academic will be required to cover literature ranging from the Baroque Age to the 20th Century, and the principles of the genres. The language of instruction is English and German, as needed; the texts are in German. The Part-Time Academic will also be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including admission, lectures, test preparation, evaluation, and electronic submission of grades. Three class hours per week, plus hold weekly office hours.
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Applicants should have native or near-native fluency in English and German and possess a graduate degree or other academic and/or professional qualifications deemed suitable for teaching the class. A background in literature, and previous experience teaching in German at the post-secondary level would be an asset.
