POSITION:Ìý Part-time Academic position – Lab instructor for ERTH 3010.03 Igneous Petrology (Fall Term 2018) and ERTH 4151.03 Mineral Deposits (Winter Term 2019).

DEPARTMENT/LOCATION:Ìý Department of Earth Sciences, Halifax Campus

PAY RATE:Ìý In accordance with CUPE Agreement Local 3912

WORK ASSIGNMENT:Ìý The lab instructor will work closely with the lead instructor on planning and development of the lab components of the courses and will be responsible for the delivery of the same. The incumbent will be expected to hold office hours for student assistance and support and will evaluate students on lab components of courses. The laboratory instructor will also play a lead role in developing a digital archive of the igneous petrology and mineral deposits teaching collections.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:Ìý PhD in Earth Sciences or equivalent, with graduate research and teaching experience. Previous research and teaching experience involving petrography of igneous rocks and mineral deposits, andÌýexpertise in reflected light microscopy of ore minerals are definite assets.

WORK ASSIGNMENT:Ìý The instructor will be responsible for the delivery of course content, for holding office hours and for evaluation of students.Ìý This is a lecture and laboratory-based course.Ìý Detailed class description is as follows:Ìý This course examines the space-time characteristics of groundwater quantity and quality. It includes physical processes occurring in natural groundwater systems and the governing relations for flow and transport; emphasizing Darcy's Law, steady state, and transient flow. It provides an overview of groundwater resource development, evaluation, contamination, and groundwater remediation.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:Ìý Graduate degree in Earth Sciences or equivalent with relevant expertise and teaching experience.
