NOTE: These courses are taught on line using On-line Web Learning (Brightspace). Students taking this distance course may primarily be third or fourth year students who are located throughout Canada. The courses and requirements for these positions are as follows:

POSITION 1:Ìý Teaching Assistant (130 hours)
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý IDHS 3000.03: Contemporary Issues in Food Studies, Winter term 2018

WORK ASSIGNMENT:Ìý The Teaching Assistant will be responsible for working with the course professor to ensure that the course runs efficiently.Ìý Evaluation of student performance (marking) and examinations will be shared between the teaching assistant and the course professor.Ìý The Teaching Assistant reports to the course professor.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Individuals interested in applying for this position should have outstanding organizational and communication skills, should work well with others and be self-motivated independent workers.Ìý The successful applicant will be familiar with the social determinants of health, and interested in the emerging
interdisciplinary field of food studies and the health implications of local food issues as applied through diverse disciplinary, holistic, and systemic perspectives. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.Ìý Masters preparation is preferred but those with relevant undergraduate preparation and experience will be considered.

POSITION 2:Ìý Teaching Assistant (130 hours)
Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý ÌýÌý IDHS 3100.03, Contemporary Issues in Rural Health, Winter term 2018

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Individuals interested in applying for this position should have outstanding organizational and communication skills, should work well with others and be self-motivated independent workers.Ìý The successful applicant will be familiar with the social determinants of health and interested in the emerging interdisciplinary study of health and health care delivery in rural environments; an awareness of health issues for various groups in rural areas, particularly in Nova Scotia, Canada, and some international areas; and factors
that affect rural health, such as policy and politics, community development, culture, human resources, and health services.Ìý Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.Ìý
Masters preparation is preferred but those with relevant undergraduate preparation and experience will be considered.
