Research Assistant (Term)

Position begins in November 2017

Research Project: Knowledge ecosystems and business innovation: an exploratory study of the channels of collaborations and key success factors between universities and Canadian small businesses.

Project information: The objectives of this research are: 1. To explore and identify the vehicles of university–firm collaboration and contextual relationships within the knowledge ecosystem that influence upon success in innovations among small and mediums sized enterprises (SMEs) in Canada, and 2. To develop an empirically tested framework which will allow academics, SMEs, and policy makers to obtain a clearer understanding of how to leverage on university-firm collaboration and fuel the Canadian innovation economy. This project is a collaborative effort comprised of the following team members; Dr. Joyline Makani (PI, мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥), Dr. Angelo Dossou-Yovo (co-investigator, York University), and Dr. Diane-Gabrielle Tremblay (co-investigator, Teluq University).

Terms of Employment: $20 per hour (includes benefits); approximately 125 hours over a 6 - month period (negotiable).

Tasks and Responsibilities: The Research Assistant's (RA) work will include:

Searching, reviewing, organization and management of relevant literature
Assisting with ethics application, preparation and submission
Conducting and analyzing interviews
Participating in writing an article for publication
Other duties as required

Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience conducting in-person and/or telephone interviews  
Experience qualitatively analyzing interviews or text
Ability to work independently
Proven time management, technological, communication and writing skills
Master's degree (or in progress)

Desired Skills
Experience transcribing interviews
Interest in and/or experience with NVivo® or other qualitative analysis software
Experience preparing manuscripts for publication
Interest and/or experience in business innovation and information management
