Position Title: Â Operations and Communications Student Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION
1.    Assist in the general operations of the College                                                        Â
·        Fill in at the front desk when needed
·        Answer general questions about the program and department
·        Respond to e-mails when applicable
·        Give direction to students, staff, faculty, and guests with inquiries
·        Assist with College events (Orientation Event, TA Appreciation Lunch, etc.)
·        Assist with ESS Thursday Evening Lecture Series
a)Â Â Â Guest lecturer itinerary and welcome package
b)Â Â Â Thank-you letters
c)Â Â Â Â Student lecture viewing appointments
·        Upkeep of student library
·        Filing
2.    College Communications                                                                                          Â
·        Assist with College social media communications (Blog, Facebook)
3.    Undertake special projects as required and perform related duties as needed     Â
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION
Successful applicants must be a current student of мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ and must have knowledge of the ESS program. Preference will be given to ESS students. Must be reliable, energetic, and enthusiastic, proficient at writing in the English language, and comfortable with Microsoft suite of products. Must have availability during regular business hours, Monday-Friday – 8:30-4:30.

TEACHING ASSISTANT/MARKER/DEMONSTRATOR POSTING

POSITION: Markers for SUST 1000.06, Introduction to Environment, Sustainability and Society 1. FALL TERM 2017 (4 positions)
DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: College of Sustainability, Mona Campbell Building Suite 1401.
PAY RATE:Â $15.65/hour as per CUPE Collective Agreement
WORK ASSIGNMENT: SUST 1000 literacy diagnostic markers will grade two rounds of assignments. Round 1 will be near the beginning of the term (22 – 29 September), and Round 2 will be at the end of the term (1 – 8 December). Please be sure that you are able to commit roughly 10 hours of marking time for each one-week round of marking (20 hours total) to this task alone when applying to one of these four positions. Markers must work collaboratively with each other and with course instructors to calibrate their grading. Markers must be available for a training session on Thursday 21 September from 8:30 – 10:30am, held at the College of Sustainability. Payment is hourly as per CUPE collective Agreement, but it is anticipated that this position will take 22 hours (20 hours marking and two hours training/marking calibration).
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Successful applicants must be a senior undergraduate, graduate or professional students at мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥. Students having graduated within the past two years will also be considered. Applicants must have experience in literacy and/or writing coaching, as well as a background in a field related to Environment, Sustainability and Society. Experience with marking is an asset.
