The Rowe School of Business invites applications for a three-year limited-term appointment in the Faculty of Management (Business Communication) at the rank of Assistant Professor commencing July 1, 2017, or as soon thereafter as possible. The deadline for applications is June 12, 2017.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in the management area, including multiple sections of business communication. Course relief will be provided for assistance to international students through the International Student Success Program. The successful applicant will also be expected to contribute to the academic life of the School.
Necessary qualifications, experience and skills:
• PhD with a concentration in English or Applied Linguistics
• Experience dealing with intercultural and cross-cultural issues
• Experience in teaching English Language Learners (ELL) or English as a Second Language (ESL) in both classroom and one-on-one settings
• Evidence of teaching effectiveness at the undergraduate level as demonstrated through student evaluations of instructor
• Experience teaching the discipline-specific forms and style of business communication
• Demonstrated potential to contribute to the Faculty’s mission through administrative service
• Record of contributions to management education through activity in conferences or professional organizations; publications of applied research in relevant fields; or publications with a pedagogical focus
• Ability to meet the School’s accrediting body’s (AACSB) qualification requirements.
Preferred qualifications, experience and skills:
• Experience teaching in an online or blended learning format
The Rowe School of Business is part of the Faculty of Management, which has a unique commitment to values-based management and interdisciplinary research and learning. Thus, the successful candidate will have opportunities to work with like-minded colleagues in the sister Schools of Public Administration, Information Management, and Resource and Environmental Studies within the Faculty.
