POSITION: Part-time Academic [One Term, Winter Term, 2016-2017] 

DEPARTMENT/LOCATION:Gender and Women’s Studies

PAY RATE: As per CUPE Collective Agreement

WORK ASSIGNMENT:

To teach Gender and Women’s Studies 1015.03 – Gender and Diversity, currently scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1:05 PM – 2:25 PM in the Winter term.  The part-time academic’s duties include responsibility for planning the course in conjunction with the Coordinator, teaching the class, evaluating the students, and administration relating to the class. This class may include participatory learning activities.   The part-time academic must be available for consultation with students outside of class times.  This position will report to the Coordinator of Gender and Women’s Studies. Note: This class may have teaching assistant support depending on enrolment.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Master's or Doctorate in Gender and Women’s Studies (or equivalent professional experience) and professional expertise in women's movements, activism, and participatory learning methods. Demonstrated experience in some combination of diversity, equity, and global feminist activism. Commitment to interdisciplinary approaches in Gender and Women's Studies. Ability to teach effectively at the university level.  Applications must include a CV, a draft syllabus for the class, two letters of reference, and evidence of teaching effectiveness (including, if available, the results of teaching evaluations for university-level classes.)
