Indigenous Governance Curriculum Developer

Honorarium: $5000

Work Assignment:
The curriculum developer will be responsible for preparing an undergraduate course in Indigenous Governance to be offered as an elective in the Bachelor of Management program and as part of the Indigenous Studies Minor. This class will be offered in an online format in the winter of 2017 through the Brightspace Learning Management System.

The curriculum developer will be expected to consult with the Director of the School of Public Administration, the Director of the Bachelor of Management Program, staff at the Centre for Learning and Teaching, the Coordinator of the Indigenous Studies Minor, and leaders of the Nova Scotia Indigenous community.

This project will be divided into three deliverables:

1. In consultation with a curriculum designer from the Centre for Learning and Teaching (CLT), the curriculum developer will work to develop a draft syllabus following the Bachelor of Management syllabus template and draft assignments. These materials must be approved by the Bachelor of Management Program Committee by May 2016. ($1,500 will be paid on approval.)
2. The curriculum developer will work with instructional designers at CLT to develop a blueprint for an online class by September 2016. ($1,500 will be paid on approval.)
3. The curriculum developer will complete the course content for the online course by December 2016. ($2,000 will be paid on approval.)

Requirements of position: The successful candidate will be knowledgeable about Indigenous issues and will have connections with the Mi’kmaq community. Excellent writing and communication skills and the ability to consult with interdisciplinary groups are essential. An understanding of Indigenous ways of learning, prior experience in teaching/curriculum design, and a master’s degree in a relevant discipline are desirable.
