Applications are invited for one Limited Term Position at the Instructor level in the School of Occupational Therapy starting July 1, 2015 (pending budgetary approval). This is an academic position that encompasses teaching and administration. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a fixed term position of one year with no expectation for renewal.

This instructor must be licensed to practice occupational therapy in Nova Scotia, have a completed master’s degree and practice experience in enabling occupational performance, in particular, the experience required to coordinate and teach courses related to neuroscience, neurological conditions, physical rehabilitation and disability.Ìý S/he has experience teaching, tutoring or supervision of students. S/he demonstrates excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, effective oral and written communication skills, leadership skills and the ability to take initiative, be flexible and work independently.

As the Instructor of Record, this instructor will take full responsibility for OCCU 6140.05(Neuroscience for Occupational Therapy) including all teaching/learning activities and student evaluation. The Instructor will also contribute to and evaluate student performance in up to 3 courses, during each of three of the four School semesters with particular involvement in the laboratory program including: tutoring, interprofessional health education (IPHE), simulated client exams, organization of events and resources such as the Mobility Fair and take responsibility for teaching resources such as the Simulation Suite, the Electronic Assessment Library and therapeutic equipment. S/he will contribute to the fieldwork program as a preceptor, student advisor and liaison to clinical settings; and contribute to the scholarly and administrative duties in the School of Occupational Therapy. This position reports to the Director, School of Occupational Therapy.
