Anorexia Nervosa is an insidious brain-based disease that will strike long before you as a parent will know it’s happening. One in ten people who develop anorexia will die from it, and it’s on the rise in Nova Scotia, but early intervention is the key to full recovery.

As a parent of a daughter who has recovered from anorexia, your presenter wants to tell you what she wishes she had known when her daughter was three years old because that’s how early you can take action to prevent this horrific disease from manifesting.

In this hour-long session we will look at the signs and symptoms, risk factors and causes, many of which will surprise and even shock you. And most importantly we will look at ways to mitigate risks and recognize the earliest signs.
