In anticipation of the call for submissions for the , this post will highlight Workload Management.
While this is the last dimension highlighted in this series, it is the one that can be the biggest workplace stressor for employees – the sense that there is too much to do and not enough time to do it. In addition, It is more than just the amount of work that makes a difference, but also having the appropriate resources to do the work well. A workplace with good workload management assigns work that is reasonable for employees’ positions, gives an appropriate level of control over prioritizing tasks, takes steps to minimize interruptions and distractions, provides appropriate equipment for the work, and has supportive conversations between supervisors and employees about the amount of work to be done.
