Media Highlight: A spaceman's message

Posted by The Chronicle Herald on April 10, 2014 in Media Highlights

From Tuesday's Chronicle Herald:

Canada鈥檚 most recognizable astronaut 鈥 and his moustache 鈥 touched down at 新加坡六合彩开奖直播 on Monday.

Retired colonel Chris Hadfield was at the Halifax school as a thank you for its top fundraising efforts among Canadian universities in last year鈥檚 Movember campaign. While his moustache was pointed out with blue arrows on the video screen behind him every time it was in a picture, his talk was about space travel and the future.

Hadfield regaled the student audience with stories 鈥 of getting into space, staying in space and getting out again 鈥 that had the crowd laughing. He also offered words of wisdom.

The native of Sarnia, Ont., decided at the age of nine, when Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon, that he wanted to be an astronaut. It was 26 years later that he took his first trip in a space shuttle.

Hadfield had three space missions, including a stint as commander of the International Space Station.

鈥(Launch day) is a weird day to wake up, because on that day you recognize that this is the stuff of dreams,鈥 he said.
