мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ is seeking applicants for an Instructor position as a probationary appointment within the Department of Earth Sciences, Faculty of Science. Applicants require a minimum M.Sc. in Earth Sciences, with completion of an approved field school or equivalent experience, fieldwork experience, and teaching experience, particularly in teaching first-year laboratory sections.

The successful applicant will be responsible for organization and instruction of first-year Earth Sciences laboratory sections and laboratories and tutorials in Physical Geography, as the need arises. Supervision of student Teaching Assistants may be involved for some sections. Laboratories will be organized in consultation with the faculty member teaching the class. The instructor will supervise the General Undergraduate Technician in ensuring that all teaching materials are up-to-date and catalogued. Additionally, there may be opportunities for the incumbent to teach undergraduate classes as needed, including in the Summer Term.

During the summer months, the successful applicant will organize and oversee logistical preparation for the off-site Departmental Field Schools in collaboration with other faculty. The successful applicant will serve as Field Coordinator to oversee best practices for field safety during the Field Schools and in other departmental classes through the academic year. The successful applicant will play a major role in teaching the off-site Departmental Field Schools.

The Instructor will contribute to Department, Faculty, and University committees and administration as needed, especially in areas relevant to undergraduate teaching. The Instructor will be actively involved in Department outreach activities. Continuing professional development, particularly in learning and teaching, is strongly encouraged.
