POSITION:ÌýÌýÌýÌý Permanent 60% of full-time or 21 hours/week with 6-month probationary period, required to join the staff union, which has no affiliation with мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥

SALARY:ÌýÌýÌýÌý $39,760- $78,757 per annum
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý (pro-rated from full-time annual rate of $66,267 - $131,263)

The мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ Faculty Association is a unionized organization for the professoriate, professional librarians, instructors and counsellors at мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥, and acts as the bargaining agent for members. The DFA deals with items of common interest to all its members and addresses broader interests of the academic community: including trends in public policy in post-secondary education (domestic & international), university budgeting practices, collective bargaining, academic freedom, issues in research and teaching. The Communications Officer reports to the Office Manager and will be expected to provide advice, research, plan, develop and implement a comprehensive communications plan in concert with the president and executive committee.

Duties:
·Ìý Media relations.
·Ìý Prepare, manage and release of a range of communications materials, and assess their effectiveness. (Web content, social media, articles, news releases, editorials, speeches, and audiovisual material).
·Ìý Conduct research and interviews as appropriate.
·Ìý Organize and manage events for internal and external audiences.
·Ìý Deal with suppliers of communications materials.
·Ìý Attend meetings of the executive committee and other committees and provide advice.
Ìý
Qualifications:
·Ìý Undergraduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., English, Journalism, Public Relations) and at least five years of related experience.
· Demonstrated strength in communications, including exceptional skills in writing, editing and media relations, and project management.
·Ìý Proven ability to work independently and in collaboration.
·Ìý Excellent skills in Microsoft Office and comfortable in the use of graphics and design applications, (e.g. Adobe is ideal), CMS (Wordpress) and social media.
·Ìý Highly organized with excellent time management, goal-setting and problem-solving skills.

Additional Assets
·Ìý Experience in an academic environment,
·Ìý Knowledge of union and government education policy and operations.
·Ìý Graphic design experience.
·Ìý Photography, videography, and additional IT skills.
