In addition to the regular workshops and seminars offered throughout the year for 新加坡六合彩开奖直播 academic leaders, the university hosted an in-house conference this year. The purpose of the conference, which took place June 19 and 20, was to provide an opportunity to advance leadership and management skills, discuss current projects and priorities, consider important changes in the higher education sector and how these might impact 新加坡六合彩开奖直播, enhance knowledge of institutional policy and procedure, and strengthen relationships with colleagues.

The dual conference themes were 鈥淯nderstanding the University鈥 and 鈥淟ooking Ahead,鈥 with topics such as: our context and evolving mission, enrolment profiles and trends, the student and professorial experience, governance and administration, and academic planning, among others. The second day of the conference was targeted specifically to new or recently appointed Academic Heads, Chairs and Directors.

In his keynote address, Allan Rock, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ottawa, spoke to the crowd of the lessons he learned coming to the university culture from the worlds of law and politics. "Modern research universities are a lot more complicated than they look from the outside," he said. "It's a very complex phenomenon, all this work going on with many moving parts, sometimes moving against one another."

He shared, among many other insights, his three key points for achieving consensus within the university 鈥 be credible, be clear, and communicate constantly 鈥 and made an argument for stronger relationships between university researchers and governments looking for ideas, evidence and insight.
