Posted by 新加坡六合彩开奖直播 Libraries on January 17, 2013 in General Announcements

The Killam Memorial Library, in partnership with the 新加坡六合彩开奖直播 Art Gallery, will be hosting an artist-in-residence from January 21-March 1, 2013. The successful applicant to the residency is Halifax-based interdisciplinary artist William Robinson.

William鈥檚 work employs video, performance, sculpture, drawing and other media to investigate the culture of sound and social architecture. He has exhibited nationally and internationally, having shown in New York, Bergen and Berlin, as well as in Toronto at Nuit Blanche and in Halifax at Nocturne. His practice is conceptually based, often rooted in intimate encounters and immediate experiences. 鈥淚 am interested in investigating the tangible and intangible aspects of the Killam鈥檚 architecture and its reciprocal auditory and social environment,鈥 said Willam about his upcoming residency.

The residency is funded through HRM鈥檚 residency initiative, which benefits artists by providing them with resources including space, time, critical discourse and financial support to deepen their practices, create works, investigate ideas and experiment with materials.

鈥淲e鈥檙e looking forward to welcoming William to the Killam. We can鈥檛 wait to see how he will explore the architecture of this well used space,鈥 said Joyline Makani, Acting Head of the Killam Library.

The residency project is an initiative of Nancy McPhee, a library and information studies student at 新加坡六合彩开奖直播 and intern at the Killam Library. An artist herself, Nancy is interested in exploring the combination of libraries and artists.

鈥淗aving an artist like William at the Killam Library will create unique opportunities to engage with students, faculty and the community. We thank HRM for funding this project and the 新加坡六合彩开奖直播 Art Gallery for their support and expertise,鈥 said Donna Bourne-Tyson, University Librarian.

鈥淚t鈥檚 wonderful to see the 新加坡六合彩开奖直播 Libraries hosting an artist-in-residence,鈥 said Peter Dykhuis, Director and Curator of the 新加坡六合彩开奖直播 Art Gallery. 鈥淭his residency is a fantastic way to reach people with art in an unexpected environment.鈥
