Being near water can provide benefits for the mind and body leading to lowered stress and anxiety levels as well as a greater overall sense of well being.

Such was the thinking behind a new water fountain installed on Dal's Agricultural Campus this past spring.

The fountain was added in the Alumni Gardens on the Truro/Bible Hill campus in memory of those impacted by the tragedy that took place nearby in the spring of 2020.

鈥淢any of our employees were touched by the tragic events that unfolded across northern Nova Scotia in April of 2020,鈥 says David Gray, campus principal and dean of the Faculty of Agriculture. 鈥淚t has been a difficult 18 months, which was compounded by isolation created by a global pandemic."

新加坡六合彩开奖直播 and the Faculty wanted to help in some small way.

The fountain is made of jet-black granite from Heritage Monuments in Windsor, N.S. Roughly textured around the sides, it features a polished top with a hole through the centre that allows for the water flow.

A memorial plaque at the fountain reads:

In memory of the victims of the April 2020 tragedy and their families. Nova Scotia strong.

The university hopes the fountain, located in the John Higgins Memorial patio area of Alumni Gardens, provides a peaceful spot for community members to take a moment of quiet reflection.
