Sven Stammberger was among the Top 8 Academic All-Canadians honoured at Rideau Hall on January 29.
The Dal Tigers athlete, who played for five years on the men's basketball team, was honoured as one of Canada's Top 8 Academic All-Canadians.

Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada, presented the sixth annual Governor General鈥檚 Academic All-Canadian Commendation to the eight recipients, during a ceremony at Rideau hall, her official residence in the nation鈥檚 capital.
The Governor General鈥檚 Academic All-Canadian Commendation was founded by the Right Honourable聽David Johnston, former Governor General of Canada, who first honoured Canada鈥檚 Top 8 student-athletes in 2013.
In the 2017-18 season, over聽3,800聽U SPORTS student-athletes achieved Academic All-Canadian honours, having maintained an average of 80 per cent or better over the academic year while competing for one or more of their university鈥檚 varsity teams. Among these outstanding individuals, one female and one male student-athlete from each of the four U SPORTS conferences are selected annually to make up the Top 8.
