Marisa Mota, Volleyball

Third-year libero Marisa Mota is this week鈥檚 G2 Female Athlete of the Week.

Mota had two outstanding matches this past weekend, leading the Tigers to a two-match sweep over the Memorial Sea-Hawks in Newfoundland.

On Saturday night, Mota had a match-high 22 digs in the Tigers 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 28-26) victory over the Sea-Hawks. She also had eight assists and was the AUS Subway Player of the Game.

In Sunday鈥檚 match, she was once again a dominant defensive force for the Tigers, recording a match-high 26 digs, as the Tigers defeated the Sea-Hawks 3-1 (25-18, 25-23, 19-25, 25-19). Once again, she was named the AUS Subway Player of the Game.

Over the course of the weekend, Mota passed a total of 48 serves and averaged a 2.55 serve receive average in addition to the 48 digs.

A arts student, Marisa is from Kitchener, O.N.

Jonathan Macdonald, Volleyball

Fourth-year setter Jonathan Macdonald is this week鈥檚 G2 Male Athlete of the Week.

Macdonald led the Tigers to a two-match sweep of the Memorial Sea-Hawks in Newfoundland over the weekend.

In Saturday鈥檚 match, Macdonald led the Tigers offence with 40 assists in their 3-0 (27-25, 25-14, 26-24) victory over the Sea-Hawks. He also added a match-high 10 digs.

Macdonald came out firing again the next day, recording 39 assists and adding another match-high 11 digs to lead the Tigers to their second straight-set sweep of the weekend (25-20, 25-22, 27-25) over the host Sea-Hawks.

The Tigers are now 14-1 in the regular season and host the UNB Varsity Reds this weekend in their last games of the regular season.

A native of Halifax, N.S., Macdonald is a management student.
