Women’s Volleyball
The women’s volleyball team hosted the Scotiabank Invitational for the third year this past weekend.

The team played their first game Friday night, hosting the visiting Windsor Lancers. The match went back and forth, with the Lancers taking the first set (18-25). The Tigers fought back, taking the next two sets (25-10, 25-21) but the Lancers took the fourth (26-24), forcing a fifth and final set.Ìý The game was close with points going back and forth between the teams but the Lancers took the last set (15-13), winning the match.

The Tigers were unstoppable on Saturday, winning both of their matches in three consecutive sets against Acadia and then Saint Mary’s. The Tigers beat the Axewomen 25-22, 25-10 and 25-19. The Tigers then beat the Huskies 25-19, 25-21 and 25-23. Maggie Li led the Tigers with 19 kills in total.

On Sunday, the Tigers played Cape Breton University. Cape Breton took the first set (25-27) but that would be their only one of the match. The Tigers played strong and took the next three sets (25-13, 25-16, 25-22). Tiger Raeesa Lalani led the way with 13 kills.

The Tigers play their next game against Acadia in Wolfville to kick offthe regular season on October 25 at 7:00pm.

Men’s Hockey
The Tigers played a pre-season game on Friday UPEI. The Panthers led from the first period, with a goal at the 14-minute mark from Panther Matthew Brenton. The Panthers continued to out-shoot the Tigers, scoring on three of their seven power plays. Dal’s lone goal came from Brad McConnell in the second period.ÌýÌý UPEI took the game 5-1.Ìý ÌýÌý

The Tigers hosted Brock University at the East Hants Sportsplex the following night, having a much better game. Going into overtime, the teams were tied at one.Ìý The Tigers ended the game with their next goal, bringing the final score to 2-1.ÌýÌý

The Tigers head to Carleton University for a pre-season game this Friday at 7:00pm.

Women’s Soccer
The women’s soccer team also travelled to PEI this weekend for a game against the Panthers. The Panthers (3-0-3) claimed their second win of the season, ending the Tigers (5-2-1) five-game winning streak. Panther Sarah Stanley scored twice in the first half of the game. The Tigers couldn’t seem to find the back of the net, with UPEI goalie Ashley McKenna making 7 saves. The Tigers lost 0-2.

The Tigers plays their next game October 6 at 1pm at StFX.

Men’s Soccer
The men’s soccer team (3-3-2) travelled to PEI this weekend to play the UPEI Panthers (0-3-3). Midfielder Sangmuk Choi put the Tigers on the board with the first goal of the game at the 35 minute mark. A goal from Panther Harminder Singh quickly followed, tying up the game. Although the Tigers had eight shots on net in the second half, none resulted in a goal. The Tigers and the Panthers tied 1-1.

They play their next game October 6 at 3:15pm at StFX.
