With the semester coming to an end, the Dal varsity teams recently wrapped up their 2012-13 season, bringing home five more AUS banners and a few individual CIS medals.

An incredible volleyball record for the AUS title

Entering the AUS championship with a 14-game winning streak and as the first place seed, the Dal women鈥檚 volleyball team showed their stripes this season. Upsetting last year鈥檚 defending champion (Saint Mary鈥檚) in the final, the black and gold claimed the AUS banner for the first time in seven years. Louise Facca and Maggie Li were named AUS all-stars, and Rick Scott received AUS Coach of the Year honours. The Tigers fought hard at the CIS championships held at l鈥橴niversit茅 de Sherbrooke, with Li earning CIS second team all-Canadian status.

Tigers swimming remains victorious

Claiming the AUS championships for the 12th (women) and 15th (men) consecutive year, the 新加坡六合彩开奖直播 swim teams proved that the Tigers dominate in the pool. On the men's team seven swimmers were named AUS all-stars, while Kit Moran earned the AUS community service award and Swimmer of the Meet honours. The women鈥檚 team saw 11 swimmers named AUS all-stars, and Katie Webster was named AUS Swimmer of the Meet. Dal went on to compete in Calgary, Alta. in the CIS championships where CIS second team all-Canadian David Sharpe brought home two silver medals (50m and 100m backstroke) and one bronze medal (100m butterfly).

Track and field at the top of their game

For the 13th year in a row the men鈥檚 track and field team brought home the AUS banner, while the women brought home the banner for the 24th consecutive year. Sarah Taplin was named AUS Rookie of the Year, Elizabeth MacDonald and Simon Watts were named AUS Field Athletes of the Year, and Rob McCulloch was named AUS Championship MVP. Coach Rich Lehman received AUS Coach of the Year honours, while Rebecca Haworth was the recipient of the AUS Community Service Award for her volunteer efforts and exceptional academic record. Going on to compete in the CIS championships in Edmonton, Alta. McCulloch and Watts claimed bronze medals in the pentathlon and triple jump, respectively.

Honourable mention efforts

The men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 basketball teams both entered the AUS championships as the fourth-place seed, but were unable to progress past the championship quarter-finals. Keisha Brown was named an AUS first team all-star, while Anna von Maltzahn, Simon Marr and William Yangue received AUS second team all-star honours.

Dal鈥檚 men鈥檚 volleyball team entered the AUS championship as the first-place seed, but could not best UNB and finished in second place. All-star honours were received by Alex Dempsey, Bryan Duquette, and Connor Maessen. Dan Ota was named Coach of the Year for the 11 time and Duquette was also named a CIS second team all-Canadian.
