Seabright, N.S. native Ashley Ryer is this week’s мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ G2 Female Athlete of the Week. At the CIS Track and Field Championship in Manitoba last weekend, she ran a season best by over three seconds in the 1000m to come within .24 seconds of a bronze medal. She also set a new personal best in the 1500m by taking 10 seconds off of her previous time. Ms. Ryer is in her fifth year with the Tigers and is enrolled in мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥â€™s masters of health administration program.

This week’s мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ G2 Male Athlete of the Week is fourth-year track and field student-athlete Simon Watts. Last weekend at the CIS Track and Field Championships he won a gold medal in the triple jump, the first in мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥â€™s athletics history. His 14.5m jump was just two centimetres ahead of the second place competitor and sets a new мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ and Nova Scotia indoor record. Mr. Watts also came fourth in the high jump and fifth in the long jump. A Halifax, N.S. native, he is enrolled in the kinesiology program at мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥.
