This past Friday, the men鈥檚 hockey team traveled to Moncton to face off against Les Aigles Bleus. The game was close, but the Tigers could not get ahead of Universite de Moncton聽and fell 4-3. Forwards Pierre-Alexandre Vandall and Trevor Mackenzie scored the first two Dal goals. Assistant Captain Benjamin Breault netted the third goal.

On Saturday, the men earned an important victory, coming from behind to crush St. Thomas 6-4. Mr. Breault led his team by netting the first goal and Ryan Stoddard scored the second. In the third period, defensemen Jacob Johnston found the back of the net, forward Trevor Mackenzie tallied two goals and Mr. Breault netted his second of the night.

Men鈥檚 hockey will host Acadia at 新加坡六合彩开奖直播 Memorial Arena on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., UPEI on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and UNB on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Friday night鈥檚 game will be a Residence Rocks the Rink event. Residence students are challenged to show their best Tigers spirit. Prizes will be given to the first 50 residence students to arrive and intermission will feature a special shoot out between the 2011 Charity Cup Big Horns and Trojans. It is also Faculty and Staff Friday so all 新加坡六合彩开奖直播 faculty and staff (plus up to three friends) can get into the game for free.

Saturday, the men鈥檚 hockey program will recognize alumni Brian Gualazzi at the 1980s Decade night as they retire jersey number nine in his honour.

Women鈥檚 hockey faced聽St. Thomas University聽in Fredericton on Saturday and outscored the Tommies 4-1 to bring home the victory.聽Robyn Nicholson played an exceptional game netting two goals. Fielding Montgomery and Laura Shearer also scored for Dal. This weekend the women will travel to PEI on Friday to take on the Panthers and on Saturday they will be at Mount Allison to face the Mounties.

Women鈥檚 volleyball had their last home game on Friday and played exceptionally well to beat St. FX 3-1. Raeesa Lalani led her team ferociously with 17 kills and six blocks. Second-year Marlee Powers also stood out as she ended the game with 11 kills against the X-women. On the road for the remainder of the season, the women will play MUN on Friday and Saturday this weekend.

Tigers basketball was busy this past weekend with doubleheaders versus St. FX and UNB at Dalplex.

Men鈥檚 basketball took down the X-Men 90-70 on Saturday. Leading the team with points were Simon Farine (31) and Joseph Schow (21). Sunday鈥檚 game was equally successful as the Tigers crushed UNB 88-54. Veterans Simon Farine (21), Juleous Grant (17) and Joseph Schow (14) led their team in points.

Women鈥檚 basketball did not enjoy the same success as the men did. On Saturday the X-Women outscored the Tigers 89-57. On Sunday the women had a much closer game, but were ultimately defeated 94-83.

Both Dal basketball teams will host Acadia at Dalplex for a doubleheader Wednesday night at 6 and 8 p.m.

Tigers swimming will be hosting the AUS swim championships this upcoming weekend, February 11-13, at Dalplex. The Dal women鈥檚 team has been the AUS champions since 2002 and the men鈥檚 team has held the title since 1999. Preliminary races take place daily at 10 a.m. and final races go each night from 6 to 8 p.m.

Simon Farine is a consistently outstanding player on the Tigers men鈥檚 basketball roster. This past Saturday, he recorded 31 points,聽seven rebounds and聽three assists against AUS third place St. FX. In Sunday鈥檚 matchup with UNB, he tallied 21 points,聽five rebounds and聽four assists. No doubt that his great leadership both on and off the court has been crucial to 新加坡六合彩开奖直播鈥檚 current number-two place in the AUS standings.聽A fifth year management student, Mr. Farine is from Toronto, Ont.

Lauren Smith, volleyball

Third-year libero Lauren Smith was instrumental in the Tigers victory over St. FX on Friday.聽She recorded an impressive 25 digs in a key win versus the AUS fourth place X-Women. This win pushed Dal into a tie with UNB for second place in the AUS standings.聽Ms. Smith聽is from Burnaby, B.C. and is enrolled in 新加坡六合彩开奖直播鈥檚 science program.
