I was just a kid but I distinctly remember gathering around the old black-and-white TV with my cousins when high jumper Greg Joy soared over the bar at 2.23 metres. It was the final full day of Olympic coverage and Canada had won only a few聽medals at its own Olympic Games, in Montreal in 1976. After clearing the bar, he raised his arms in victory. Sweet.
The Olympics always furnish such moments鈥攁nother that comes to mind is Simon Whitfield crossing the finish line聽during the triathalon at the 2000 games in Sydney or Silken Laumann at the 1992 Summer Games in Barcelona when she won a bronze medal in the rowing competition with her leg heavily bandaged.
So, what's your favorite Olympic moment? Tell us about it and what makes it significant.
