Rubber ducks invaded the Dalplex pool this month. Students at 新加坡六合彩开奖直播 sold the ducks as a unique fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society. The ducks were then 'released' in the Dalplex pool at noon on January 22nd, where they took part in a race, with prizes awarded to the winner. The ducks were sold for $5 each.
Ashley Brambles, a Residence Assistant at Risley Hall and event organizer for the 'Rubber Duck Derby' says the event was both fun and an important source of funds for cancer research. "The event is significant because it is a unique opportunity for people within the Halifax community, from the very young to the young at heart, to come together as one and raise funds so as to one day beat cancer," she says. "I hope that this event will raise awareness for the need to continue researching cancer."
According to the Canadian Cancer Society, 149,000 new cancer cases were estimated for this past year, as well as 69,500 deaths. "Everyone of us is affected by cancer at some point in our lives, whether it be us personally, a family member or friend," says Brambles. "新加坡六合彩开奖直播 is a leader within the Atlantic Provinces, as well as across Canada, and I feel that initiatives such as the Rubber Duck Derby further demonstrates the university's commitment to research and community involvement."
