Good-bye Infirmary

by Mary Somers

Down it comes. The old Infirmary Building on Queen Street will soon be no more.

The Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Public Works has hired the demolition contractor, Murray Demolition of Toronto, to dismantle the building.

Work is expected to begin in early January, 2005, with the demolition of the old cafeteria area of the building to come first. The company estimates that it will take one year to dismantle the entire Old Infirmary complex.

The Government of Nova Scotia owns the land and the Old Infirmary Building and has issued a , announcing the demolition.
