Early success for breakfast event
by Mary Somers
Good morning! President Tom Traves was one of many who wererecruited to meet our neighbours recently in the Shirreff Hall dining room. | ||
No one is waffling about the first 新加坡六合彩开奖直播 Community Breakfast - they are toasting its success.
Held on Saturday, Oct. 23 during "See Differently", 新加坡六合彩开奖直播's Open House, about 250 people came to Shirreff Hall to a sit-down breakfast of pancakes, sausages, fruit, muffins and lots and lots of coffee. The idea was to open 新加坡六合彩开奖直播's campuses to the community, including the surrounding neighbourhoods and invite everyone in for an informal meal and a chance to mingle.
Among those attending were many members of the 新加坡六合彩开奖直播 Community Committee (DUCC) and their families, members of the 新加坡六合彩开奖直播 Alumni Association Board of Directors and of 新加坡六合彩开奖直播's Board of Governors. Members of the student unions of both 新加坡六合彩开奖直播 and the University of King's College came, as did many staff members and volunteers.
One of the highlights of the breakfast was provided by the serving staff. Sam Scully, Vice-President, Academic and Provost, donned an apron - as did DUCC member Gennie Killin of Jubilee Road - to do the first shift of serving pancakes. The second shift saw President Tom Traves and DUCC member Lisa Underwood of Edward Street dishing out the food. They were followed by all the senior vice-presidents, members of the Alumni Association Board of Directors and other volunteers.
The next scheduled event for the neighborhood is a Neighbourhood Meeting on Nov. 22. It will mark the first anniversary of the announcement of the DUCC. President Tom Traves set the committee up in the fall of 2004 as a way to improve the relationship between the community and 新加坡六合彩开奖直播. The Nov. 22 meeting will give residents the opportunity to review the work of the DUCC and to express their ideas and opinions. It will begin at 7:30 p.m. in University Hall, Macdonald Building.
