Volunteer Spotlight: Dr. Scott Swinden (BSc鈥70), volunteer with EES鈥檚 alumni committee:听
A shout out to Natashia Drage (M.Sc., 2022) who was just selected as the 2023 Gelinas Silver Medalist for Outstanding M.Sc. thesis from the Volcanology/Igneous Petrology Division of the Geological Association of Canada. Her thesis helped to constrain models for the origin of chromite deposits, the primary ore of chromium, an important critical metal. That work was also just published in the Journal of Petrology

Siobhan Takala who was a double major in Environmental Science (Faculty of Science) and the Environment Sustainability and Society program (College of Sustainability) has been named one of the by the Starfish Group. She has been recognized for her work in co-founding 鈥淟et鈥檚 Sprout鈥 which creates spaces for youth to learn and grow, with a special focus on important issues within society, such as the environment and gender.
