The Dal Science Legacy Awards were established in celebration of �¼��ϲʿ��ֱ��'s Bicentennial Anniversary in 2018. The award recognizing individuals from our community who have made a significant contribution to science. Each award recipient is commemorated through a unique piece of art that will be displacyed in the Wallace McCain Learning Commons.

Dr. Erik Demaine (BSc'95, Computing Science)

The inaugural award recipient of the award is Dr. Erik Demaine (BSc'95, Computing Science). At the age of 14, Erik was the youngest person to graduate from �¼��ϲʿ��ֱ��. He went on to become the youngest professor at MIT in Boston and now specializes in mathematics, computer science and artificial intelligence. In celebration of the Bicenntennial Anniversary, he and his father Martin crafted an oragami sculpture called 200 Circles.

Dr. Ramson A. Myers (PhD'84, Biology)

Dr. Myers, known to many as ‘Ram,' was a beloved educator and a brilliant scientist. He was known world-wide for his accomplishments as both a fisheries biologist and conservationist. Among many accolades, he gained international recognition in the 90s and the 2000s for his research on the effects of overfishing on marine species, such as Atlantic cod, pelagic sharks and bluefin tuna. To honour his legacy and memory, his son Carlo Myers created a painting called Together.
