Posted by Faculty of Management on January 20, 2015 in Students

In early January, three Rowe School of Business (RSB) students presented with great success at the University of Vermont's third annual .

Our team members were all 4th year Bachelor of Management students: (pictured L to R) Anna Baranowski (Alberta), Andrew Faircloth (Nova Scotia) and Charcy Britten-Boudreau (Nova Scotia).

Sixteen teams from around the world participated in the undergraduate competition. The RSB team competed in the Gallagher, Flynn & Company division alongside Windesheim University of Applied Sciences (Netherlands), Saginaw Valley State University (US) and Universidad Panamericana-Aguascalientes (Mexico). After a difficult start, the Rowe team rallied to finish first two days in a row earning it first place in the division.

Finals were held Saturday, January 10. The RSB competed against teams from Wilfrid Laurier University, Ottawa鈥檚 Carleton University (Sprott School of Business), and Chile鈥檚 Universidad del Desarrollo.

In the end, Carleton captured the UVM FECC Cup, with 新加坡六合彩开奖直播鈥檚 team finishing a close second, the two teams having been separated by only a few points. Although disappointed that they didn鈥檛 capture the Cup, the Rowe team members were pleased to achieve second place and receive very positive feedback from other attendees. 鈥淭he Rowe School is extremely proud of our students and the wonderful and gracious manner in which they competed,鈥 said coach Leslie Crowell.

At the closing gala, the team was delighted when Andrew Faircloth was awarded Best Undergraduate Presenter for the competition, a fantastic honour for someone attending his first case competition. 鈥淩epresenting Dal at a global competition was an incredible experience,鈥 said Andrew. 鈥淏eing recognized for my performance out of competitors from teams from around the globe was an awesome experience and a feeling I鈥檓 sure I won鈥檛 soon forget.鈥

The RSB has been competing in the Family Enterprise Case Competition since its inception in 2013 and has improved its performance each year, finishing at fifth place in 2013, third in 2014, and now second in 2015.

聽鈥淭he Rowe community congratulates Anna, Charcy and Andrew for their stellar performance, as well as those who have worked with and coached the students: Bob Blunden, Associate Professor of Strategy; Albert James, Assistant Professor of Strategy; and Leslie Crowell, Director of the Centre for Family Business and Regional Prosperity,鈥 said Peggy Cunningham, Dean, Faculty of Management.
