FHP Achievements ‑ June/July 2015

Congratulations to our staff, students, faculty and alumni on their recent achievements:

  • Noel Pendergast from the School of Health Sciences (Respiratory Therapy) received the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) Robert Merry Excellence in Education Award.  Noel was honoured for being an innovative educator, a well-respected interprofessional team member, and a generous community volunteer.  The award was presented at CSRT Annual Conference in May 2015.
  • Lori Dithurbide (Health and Human Performance) has been chosen by Hockey Canada as the mental health skills coach for Canada's National Women's Under-18 Team and Canada's National Women's Development Team for the 2015-2016 season.
  • Ingrid Sketris (Pharmacy) was awarded a Canadian Foundation for Pharmacy Wellspring Pharmacy Leadership Award which allowed her to participate in leadership modules offered by the American College of Clinical Pharmacy Leadership and Management Academy in Chicago this past April.
  • Master of Health Administration graduate Kate Mercier received the Robert Wood Johnson Award at a ceremony hosted by the Canadian College of Health Leaders and the Canadian Healthcare Association in Charlottetown PEI on June 17, 2015.  The award - given to six MHA students from across Canada - recognizes individual achievement and promising contributions in the field of health services management.
  • The Faculty of Health Professions was well represented in this year's мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ Teaching Awards, with our faculty members taking five of the ten top honours!  Read (DalNews) to learn more about these awards, and their deserving recipients.

    • Award for Excellence in Graduate Supervision - Sara Kirk, Health and Human Performance
    • Award for Excellence in Education for Diversity - Wanda Thomas Bernard, Social Work
    • Contract and Sessional Instructor Award of Excellence for Teaching - Matthew Numer, Health and Human Performance
    • President's Graduate Teaching Student Award - Becky Spencer, Interdisciplinary PhD (Faculty of Health Professions)
