James R. Johnston was the first member of the Nova Scotia African Canadian Community to graduate in Law from 新加坡六合彩开奖直播 in 1898, and he played a very active public, professional and community role throughout his short life. The James Robinson Johnston Graduate Entrance Scholarship is supported by the Endowment for the James Robinson Johnston Chair in Black Canadian Studies, which was established in July 1996 "...to bring Black culture, reality, perspectives, experiences and concerns into the Academy."聽
In the spirit of James Robinson Johnston, who believed that the best interests of African Canadians would be served through education, 新加坡六合彩开奖直播 each year offers a renewable graduate-level scholarship to a promising African Canadian student, providing them the opportunity to pursue聽master鈥檚 or doctoral studies in their program of choice.
Eligibility criteria
You must be a self-identifying African Canadian citizen or permanent resident聽who has been accepted into or applied for a master鈥檚 or doctoral program.
Applications are particularly encouraged from students whose program of study has the potential to contribute to African Canadian community enhancement and advancement.
If you hold any other scholarships, the JRJ Graduate Entrance Scholarship will be considered a 鈥渢op-up award鈥 to your other sources of funding. The total amounts聽you receive聽will聽not exceed $20,000 per academic year for master鈥檚 programs and $30,000 per academic year for doctoral programs.
