Memo

Faculty of Engineering Response to COVID-19 (UPDATE March 19, 2020)

TO: Students, Faculty and Staff

From: Dean, Faculty of Engineering

As many of you have now learned, мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ has made the difficult decision to move the spring/summer courses, set to begin in May, to remote (distance) teaching. This means in-person classes will not resume on-campus until the fall. Additional details on spring/summer courses will be shared in the coming weeks.

The Faculty is working with all of its program personnel to determine how we address the recent change to our spring/summer courses. We recognize that there are a variety of courses offered in the summer including full academic terms in Industrial Engineering and Electrical and Computer Engineering. We will update you as soon as we work through the details.

We will also provide an update on implications to lab and research work.

As per recommendations issued by the University, I would also like to remind all students that they should be returning home as soon as possible. We are now requiring RESIDENCES TO BE VACATED BY 11 a.m. TOMORROW (Friday, March 20). Exemptions can be made for those in extraordinary circumstances. Those students who require an exemption should contact residence@dal.ca immediately.

As the situation with COVID-19 continues to evolve, this remains a challenging time for everyone. I would like to thank everyone for their work, patience and understanding, and please stay safe.
