BA, Combined Honours
The Bachelor of Arts (BA) is a four-year, 20-credit program. Students can complete the BA with Combined Honours by choosing Gender and Women鈥檚 Studies and another subject from a wide range including Biology, Classics, Contemporary Studies, English, French, History, International Development Studies, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Social Anthropology, and Theatre.
Students interested in any of these combinations or any other that involves Gender and Women鈥檚 Studies and another subject should consult with the departments concerned.
General degree requirements
Please read the detailed description of the BA with Combined Honours program in the Degree Requirements section of the 新加坡六合彩开奖直播 Academic Calendar. After meeting the first year requirements, students can choose from two options:
- A maximum of 聽42 credit hours聽in the major subject, with a minimum of聽24 credit hours聽in the allied subject. In addition, 24 elective credit hours聽which are not from the major or allied subject group.
- With departmental approval, a maximum of 54 credit hours聽in the major subject with a minimum of 24 credit hours聽in the allied subject. This particular option can be broken down further into a combination of 48 credit hours聽in the major subject and 30 credit hours聽in the allied subject or聽42 credit hours聽in the major subject and 36 credit hours聽in the allied subject. In addition, two full elective credits which are not from the major or allied subject group.
PLEASE NOTE: Where a class selected from the Gender and Women鈥檚 Studies 鈥渓ist鈥 in the BA with Combined Honours program is cross-listed with a class in the allied subject, the class may not be double counted (i.e., it may be counted on one or other list, but not on both). Where a class selected for the Gender and Women鈥檚 Studies 鈥渓ist鈥 in the BA with Combined Honours program is cross-listed with a class in the allied subject, this should not result in a student exceeding the maximum allowed in either of the allied subjects.
Departmental requirements
In addition to meeting the Degree Requirements set out by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Gender and Women鈥檚 Studies students must meet the following requirements:
- At least three Gender and Women鈥檚 Studies classes must be taken beyond the 2000 level.
- At least three different disciplines must be represented in a students鈥 selection of Gender and Women鈥檚 Studies classes (in disciplines other than the allied subject).
- The following classes are required:
聽聽 a) At least one full credit from the following:聽.03, .03, .03, .03, .03, .03 (Normally this requirement should be met in the second year of the programme.)
聽聽 b) At least one full-credit 4000 level Gender and Women鈥檚 Studies class, either Directed Readings, Special Topics, or cross-listed class (Normally this requirement should be met in the fourth year of the program.)
聽聽 c) To meet the Honours Examination requirement when Gender and Women鈥檚 Studies is the major subject, students will prepare a research paper under the supervision of a Gender and Women鈥檚 Studies faculty member and will take聽X/Y.03.
