Dr. Fraser Clark and the members of his crustacean health lab (crustaceanhealth.ca) from the мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ Faculty of Agriculture were fishing for mackerel with Canso, NS fisherman Billy Bond on August 15th in the waters off of Canso NS.

This is an annual event for Dr. Clark's lab to give his student hands-on experience fishing for lobster bait with lobster fishers. While fishing, they came across a seal with a very large bite out of it. Moments later, a Great White Shark appeared giving Dr. Clark and his graduate students a once in a lifetime view of a Great White Shark feeding in the wild.

The White Shark was not tagged so it is a new report to DFO to add to the sharks currently being tracked along the coast of Nova Scotia.

"This is a once-in a-lifetime learning event for myself and my students," said Dr. Fraser Clark.  "It was a breathtaking experience that I never thought I would be lucky enough to be part of."

Students participating included Stephanie Hall, Samantha Stevens, Emily Blacklock and Shannon Kelley.
