On Saturday, February 11, the Truro Library will transform into an information hub to teach members of the community about agriculture. Farmers, volunteers, commodity groups, and agricultural advocates will join together to celebrate the food we love. The celebration, in advance of Canada鈥檚 Agriculture Day on February 16, will be hosted by 新加坡六合彩开奖直播 Faculty of Agriculture and the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture.
鈥淭he goal of the event is to inform people about agriculture,鈥 says Arin Douglas, an event volunteer and a member of 新加坡六合彩开奖直播 Faculty of Agriculture鈥檚 Agrology Club. 鈥淲e want to help everyone involved, both volunteers and participants, learn something new about agriculture.鈥
The event begins at 10 a.m. and will have different stations for children to participate in as well as informative displays around the library. A booth at the Truro Farmers Market will offer details about the library event and encourage market goers to visit the library next door.
Some of the stations include seed planting, soap making, cider pressing, butter making, and more. Agricultural groups in the area will also supply resources such as recipe and information brochures, coloring books, and activity sheets about agriculture.
鈥淭he event is geared toward school age children but anyone can come along and try out the stations,鈥 Arin explains.
Canada鈥檚 Agriculture Day will be officially celebrated on February 16. The day is just as it sounds- a day to celebrate agriculture across the country. The theme for this year鈥檚 Agriculture Day is 鈥楥elebrating the Food That We Love鈥 and will aims to eliminate the gap between Canadians, our food, and the farmers who produce it. Canada鈥檚 Agriculture Day is hosted by Ag More Than Ever, an industry-driven cause made up of hundreds of partners and agricultural advocates from across the country, all committed to improving perceptions, dispelling myths and creating positive dialogue about Canadian agriculture.
On February 16, agricultural advocates from all across the country will participate in Canada鈥檚 Agriculture Day by sharing stories, photos, and videos on their farms, speaking at schools and libraries, sharing recipes, organizing food appreciation days at local businesses and much more.
