25000 Toques

Posted by Stephanie Rogers on December 3, 2015 in News

25,000 Toques is a spontaneous citizen driven movement aimed at giving a warm welcomes to refugees. Knit, spool knit, crochet or stitch together polar fleece toques as beautiful and warm as you can and include a small personal greeting slipped inside and drop it off to the MacRae Library. We’ll take care of gathering local toques and sending them on to the мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ student coordinating the local initiative.

It's our very own small way of welcoming people and making a humane and direct connection from person to person.  We want a better fabric for our society, one that is tightly knitted together . Knitting helps; it help us feel a bit less powerless and it helps keep someone warm. For more information about 25 000 Toques please visit

If you want to knit a scarf or mittens to go with your toque please do but the goal is to gather as many knit toques as possible across our country. If you would prefer to donate a purchased toque please contact the various wonderful organizations accepting donations of items across the region.  Â
