Taking Action for a Better Planet

Posted by Stephanie Rogers on November 20, 2015 in News

Something magical is happening... More than a million people are expected to join together across the world on November 29th to take action and urge world leaders to negotiate the best outcomes from the most important climate summit this decade!  We need to invest our time and resources in a world powered by clean energy. Climate change is happening and we’re contributing to results that we do not want.

Taking Action for a Better Planet – leading together.
In Truro and area, the Living Earth Council is hosting a fun, family friendly event. Students, faculty and staff from CEC and NSCC and DAL-AC are coming together with solutions for this time and for this place.  Jason Blanch, Green Party candidate 2015 and Wendy Robinson, NDP candidate 2015 in the federal election have ideas for actions to improve the planet and reduce climate change and GHG.

What are your ideas? What are we willing to do as a community? What responsibilities and opportunities do our municipal governments have to improve the climate? Join in a worldwide demonstration of concern for the planet and for each other. Take part in this discussion and action planning. Talk to your municipal councillors, the mayors, and each other. Bring two ideas for action - one personal action and one public or political action that will ignite the hearts and minds of others to engage in reducing climate change. Let us make profound changes together.

This event is part of the Global Climate March. On November 30th, world leaders meet in Paris to negotiate the next global climate deal. That’s why, the day before, people around the world are joining together to urge leaders at every level of government to commit to 100% clean energy. Let’s make a climate deal that gets us off dirty energy and unleashes clean energy for us and in us all.
