Two of the Faculty鈥檚 own were recently honored at the 2015 Volunteer Recognition ceremony hosted by the Village of Bible Hill April 30th.
Judy Smith and Elaine MacInnis received the Outstanding Community Service Award.听 The award is presented to those who have made an outstanding contribution in volunteer community service in Bible Hill in the past year.
Nominated by the Ron MacKay Memorial Youth Band Society, Elaine McInnis is the President of the Ron MacKay Memorial Youth Band Society.听 She has been the driving force behind the band for the past three years, doing an incredible amount of work to keep the band running like a well-oiled machine.
Her passion for providing our youth with opportunity to be involved in their community has brought the Ron MacKay Memorial Youth Band to new levels.听 Weather it is finding the next fundraiser, hosting meetings or helping set up for their next performance, Elaine is the first one to lend a hand.听听 Watching the kids play is the reward for her countless hours of volunteering.听 The Ron MacKay Memorial Youth Band has been a part of the Village of Bible Hill Tree Lighting ceremony keeping the crowd entertained until Santa arrives.听 Even in the freezing cold weather Elaine is there helping set up and taking care of all the little pieces.
Elaine has also been a Guide leader with the Bible Hill Girl Guides for two years and was a Brownie leader before that. She volunteers with her church as a member of the parish council and wherever else she is needed. She is dedicated to all she does and is a true joy to work with!!

Nominated by the Bible Hill Fire Bridge, Judy Smith has been a long-term member of the NSAC/Dal AC community. She joined the staff in 1976 and for many years lived on campus.
Although many of her community activities are considered her 鈥渄ay job鈥 she has always supported the community of Bible Hill and surrounding areas. She was and remains an active supporter of the Scotia Pool. She has contributed endless hours outside of regular working hours to support student and campus activities. These include such events as the Fall Craft Fair at the Langille Athletic Centre and numerous regional and national sporting events held on campus. These events have greatly added to the awareness of our community as well as added to its economic well-being.听 Judy has been recognized nationally for her contributions and it is only fitting she be recognized in the community that she has had the most influence on.
