Who we are: The Nova Scotia SPCA is a registered charity with a network of 10 branches across the province. We rely on volunteers and donations to fund animal protection; care and rehabilitation; advocacy; and humane education. We are unique among animal welfare organizations in the province as we are under a mandate to enforce animal cruelty laws for the entire province. Last year the SPCA and branches took in 8000 animals through cruelty investigations or as stray and surrendered animals. Our objective is to ensure every displaced animal gets a second chance at a loving forever home. We are not an agency of the government nor do we receive tax dollars to fulfill our mandate.
