Students from both мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ and other universities in Canada and around the world were invited to Halifax for the from 3rd – 14th June. Classroom sessions for this for-credit course took place not just at мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ but also at the , which provides an unparalleled learning experience through its exhibits, displays, artifacts and oral history clips. Specialist instructors included academics and curators with extensive knowledge of, and expertise in, the field.Â
This intensive, international course aimed to bring together students and researchers from different countries and backgrounds to explore key issues and experiences relating to migration and identity in Europe and Canada. Using a comparative, multidisciplinary and experiential approach, the institute combined seminar-style lectures, discussions, case studies, activities and field trips in and beyond Halifax. A mix of individual and group work enabled students to learn about the fundamental issues as well as examine in more depth a topic of particular interest to them, making the most of the museum's unique setting and collection. The course was conducted in English and consisted of 40 hours of instruction.
