Manitoba Gambling Research Program

Focused Research Solicitation
In the near future,聽The Manitoba Gambling Research Program will solicit proposals for a Focused Research Project about messages that influence treatment seeking. A Project Guide offering full details will be posted on the website when solicitation opens (subscribers will be notified). Manitoba collaboration is not required to be eligible to submit proposals for Focused Research Projects.

Research Findings Now Available
The final report for project "Play-for-Fun Social Casino Gambling: An Examination of Our Current Knowledge" (Derevensky, Gainsbury, Gupta & Ellery), funded in 2012, is now available to download.

"Gambling to Relax and Gambling to Forget: Questionnaire and Daily Diary Studies of Subtypes of Coping Motives for Gambling" (Stewart, Ellery & Goldstein).

"Risk and Protective Factors of Gambling Among Young Adults" (Stewart & Mackinnon).

"Longitudinal Analyses of the Prevalence, Course, and Comorbidity of Problem Gambling in Young Adults" (Edgerton & Roberts).

All research grants and awards made in are now listed on the website, including project summaries. The 2013 annual publication can also be downloaded from .

The Manitoba Gambling Research Program聽would also like to welcome two new Research Council members, Kristianne Dechant from the Liquor and Gaming Authority of Manitoba, and Dave Grift from the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba. The full list of Research Council members, along with their biographies can be found on the website. 聽

The Manitoba Gambling Research Program supports the development of high quality research that enables the evidence-based advancement of responsible gaming programs, and problem gambling prevention and treatment. Research opportunities are available for researchers across Canada.
